|Preconceptions: None. I’ve never heard of him/them. The wiki shows some white Brooklyn hipster. What is an Elp anyway? That’s the noise my neighbor’s dog makes when they beat it.
After: Totally fails as rap music. I listened to the whole album and still don’t know what car he drives or what designer makes his pants.
Favorite Track: Stepfather Factory
Least Favorite: Dr Hellno and the Praying Mantis: fails lyrically with juvenile Howard Sternian single entendres far below the cleverness shown in the other tracks. I’m not sure who Fast Aire is, but I’m blaming that dude.
Overall: I was scared when the album opened with a 70s sci-fi synth chord that may have come from Zardoz, but it opened up to a multi-textured aural background to rabid-fire clever wordplay. This is what the hip-hops should sound like.
