Seth Surmises – The Big Gundown

Preconceptions: Not familiar with his music, although I have heard he is some sort of genius.

After listening: Oh. THAT sort of genius. The kind of genius that passes off mental illness as brilliance. Fck this album.

Fav Track: Poverty is a wino whistling through Paris at 1 am. While not in any way interesting, it didn’t make me want to punch all music like the rest of this album. Fck this album.
Least Fav: This album? Fck this album.

Overall: The Big Gundown starts as music from a trailer for a shtty horror film about Christmas and devolves into mosquitoes tagteaming Yoko Ono in a vacuum cleaner repair shop. It tool all I had to not pull the eject on this one. Don’t tell me I “didn’t get it”, there is nothing to get. What can you possibly enjoy about this album? The adoration heaped on this bullshit reminds me of Chance the gardener in Being There.  I can’t be any clearer: fck this album.

Rating: 0.00 (Naught point diddly, zilch, bupkis, Sweet FA, squat). Fck this album.

Extra Credit: Wesley Willis- Music from schizophrenics can be entertaining.

Seth (40 Posts)

Seth (in a nutshell) is an aging punk rocker and five year resident of Cubistan, taking the office job after many years in music & fashion retail. He is a lifelong New England resident, with the exception of a year spent in Orlando Florida, the armpit of the universe. He is a skeptical cynic with a hairtrigger bullshit detector. Seth lives in Brass City, Connecticut with his wife, Vicki; his cat, Norwegian Black Metal; and his wife’s cat, who’s name he forgets.
