|Fleetwood Mac- Rumours
Preconceptions: Ah, Rumours… Second only to Queen’s A Night at the Opera on the bowling alley jukebox of my tweendom. This was stuff high school kids listened too when I was in kindergarten.
After Listening: That didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would.
Favorite Tracks: Don’t Stop (because Bill Clinton was the first person I voted for who won) and Go YourOwn Way(because coked-out break ups are always fun).
Least Favorite: Dreams & Gold Dust Woman. I may just like Stevie Nicks less than everyone else in this band.
Overall: We’ve all heard half of these songs all our lives. Any “wow” impact they might have had has been dispersed by repeated lite FM and pizza parlor playlist rotation. It is what it is: indulgent and self-important coke-fueled pop. It was the 70s. What are ya gonna do? Not listen to it again? That sounds like a grand idea. But it didn’t make me want to pour molten lead into my ears.
Rating: 2.9 It’s better than a lot of hits from the era and the soap opera background make it minimally entertaining.
