Preconceived Notions: I was familiar with The Kinks’ Village Green Preservation Society album, as well as their hits, so I know what the Kinks were all about. I had heard of this particular album so I didn’t have many preconceived notions.
After Listening to the album: Its certainly a pleasant listen. I could picture teenage girls listening to this in the Surrey or Chelsea neighborhoods of London when they got home from school.
Favorite Tracks: Harry Rag (to my ears it was the catchiest), Waterloo Sunset (Maybe I have “a thing” for last tracks on albums)
Least Favorite Track: Love Me Ttill The Sun Shines (wasn’t feeling it at all)
Overall: A 3, but heading towards 4 territory. It’s easy on the ears and is probably listenable in a lot of settings and situations, but at the same time I doubt I’d ever have a serious craving for The Kinks. For me, this album has nothing to rail against, but really nothing to praise either.
